Neil Finn: One Nil (Parlophone)
Finn's second solo album finds him still showing a knack for penning prefect
pop tunes - two songs in and you have Rest Of The Day Off, the kind of track
that wouldn't look out of place on a Crowded House album.
Elsewhere there's quite a funky edge on the likes of Don't Ask Me Why - no
doubt to the influence of former Prince cohorts Wendy Melvoin and Lisa
Coleman, whose fingerprints are all over several songs here.
A good broad spectrum of Finn's styles gives One Nil a well-rounded feel, and
makes it instantly more memorable than Try Whistling This.
