Neil Finn - One Nil (EMI)

Delightful pop tunes from the other part of the world does sometimes reach Danish shores. Most often the tunes are provided by artists who have settled either on the American West Coast or in the European music metropolis London. That is not the case with Neil Finn though. Throughout his career he has been based either on the Australian continent or in his home country NZ. However, his music does have a distinct feel of belonging to a different continent - Finn has never denied his musical roots stem from something starting with a capital B.

His love for the roots of modern European pop history was evident in his internationally renowned band Crowded House. Finn chose to close shop and began life as a solo artist with "Try Whistling This" - a rather sprawling record. Now Finn picks up the reins on "One Nil" which sounds more like Crowded House than "TWT". "One Nil" features all the best qualities Neil Finn has to offer as a songwriter - his songs are always heartfelt. The production is understated and Neil Finns beautiful vocal harmonies add angel dust. "One Nil" is in every possible way a welcome return to the hub of Neil Finn's musical universe.
