The end of the year sees Split Enz re-unite (minus Phil Judd) on the Holmes TV Show in Auckland to co-incide with the release of their Best Of 30th Anniversary album, followed by another of Neil's home webcasts where Eddie Rayner, Paul Crowther and Mike Chunn drop by.

Tim begins the year by playing a handful of shows on Australia's east coast in preparation for his Feeding The Gods tour later in the year. A musically diverse year for Neil, beginning with his world tour of One Nil, during which he teams up with an all-star cast of Johnny Marr, Eddie Vedder, 2 members of Radiohead, his brother Tim and Betchadupa for a 5 night stint in Auckland, from which 7 Worlds Collide is taken (CD and DVD). Next followed the unusual collaboration with cartoonist Michael Leunig, violinist Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra to produce a mini Australian tour entitled Parables, Lullabies & Secrets. Neil then heads back to the UK for the Band Of Strangers mini tour and the summer festivals. Another project for Neil includes his contributions to the Rain soundtrack.

1999 Live Shows   Neil Finn
Albums   Afterglow
Overview
A relatively quiet year, with the only studio release being the Crowded House post-mortem Afterglow, featuring previously unreleased tracks, B-sides and rarities. Tim spends much of the year working on material which will appear on his first solo record in 7 years - Say It Is So - which he records in the unlikely town of Nashville, TN with producer Jay Joyce. Neil meanwhile plays a few one-off shows, most notably at LA's Café Largo, the Linda McCartney tribute in London, and the Tibetan Freedom Concert in Sydney's Homebush Bay. Neil also writes a song for the NZ All Blacks rugby team - Can You Hear Us - a patriotic yet catchy number. Split Enz end the millennium in fine style, with a two-night millennium show in Auckland's Waterfront.

Albums   Anniversary (US), The Gold Collection, Spellbound, Stranger Than Fiction
Overview
A very quiet year publicly, with the only known outing being a combined Neil and Tim performance at the Marlborough Food & Wine Festival in New Zealand. Apparently this is a fave of theirs as they're both known to like a drop of the good stuff from time to time. On a solo note, Neil puts the finishing touches to what will be his first solo album - Try Whistling This both at his home studio in New Zealand and New York. Meanwhile several Split Enz albums are re-released: Anniversary - a live CD which was largely recorded during the Enz 20th Anniversary tour of New Zealand in 93, The Gold Collection, Spellbound - a Best Of CD, and Stranger Than Fiction - a re-release of the much earlier material.
